Mother, Mama, Mom....
I wanted to take a moment to celebrate our own Mothers and those of us that are Mothers. Mother’s Day is truly special. Most of us don’t really understand the sacrifices our Mother made for us until we become Mothers.
Once you come out of the haze of your first child being born, the sleepless nights and into the daily routine of cooking, cleaning, rocking, loving, balancing and worrying, it hits you that your Mother did all of this for you. Slowly you feel the pain, exhaustion, joy, love, and you start to empathize with her. You really feel for her for the first time. You appreciate what she gave up for you. You “get” why she worried and prayed and walked the floors. She wanted you to be all that you want your own children to be. Happy, content, healthy, successful, and protected.
In these moments and years, you value your role as a mother and you value your mother more. What starts out as…. “I will never do that like my mom did”, turns into, “What would my mom have done in this situation”. Our Mothers shape us into who we become in so many ways and that shapes us into the Mothers that we are to our own children.
I’ve been blessed with a Mother that gave her all to me and my brother and sisters. She truly dedicated her life to us. And now, I’m blessed again to have two daughters that I love and adore more than words. I hope I do as half as well as she did and I hope she will approve.
To all of the Mothers out there, YOU have already changed the world more than you know and you've done a great job!
